Our special holiday gift to you
Go Behind the Scenes!
For a limited time, watch our Behind-the-Scenes footage of the making of "Silent Partner," shot and edited by Derryl Strong, @lyrred.
It has been an incredible year at Black Man Films, as we continue to hit new highs:
We fully shot the feature version of SILENT PARTNER and achieved picture lock (that is a fully-edited film). (And all of this from an idea in the summer of 2020 that kickstarted the movement.)
We privately screened the rough cut with industry executives and filmmakers in Los Angeles, Atlanta, and NYC — from whom we've incorporated feedback to get to picture lock.
We applied for the NY state tax incentives program and will receive up to 30% of production costs back once we finish post production — which has an immediate impact to our bottom line.
We are currently in discussions with major distributors and celebrity influencers to bolster our press and marketing prior to our festival launch in 2025.
And… our short films, SPEAK UP BROTHA! and HARLEM FRAGMENTS, have also dominated the festival circuit in their own right and racked up notable wins at ESSENCE Fest, Key West Film Festival, Indie Film Fest, Harlem International, and North Carolina Black Film Festival (where our 2 films took both 1st and 2nd prize).
None of it could be possible without our donors and investors. Earlier this year, we used our generous tax-deductible donations of $30k to fund production and editing for SILENT PARTNER, and before’s year end, we are asking for your support to complete post-production ($85k in total for professional coloring, VFX, and sound mixing). We have our production house and team lined up and ready to go — we just need the support to get us there, before the teams are pulled onto other projects and so that we can send distributors the final, polished version of the film.
Even a small gift (tax-deductible) will make a big difference — small gifts are how we reached $30k in early 2024, and if you have a company matching program, you can double the impact! As added incentive:
Our fiscal sponsor, The Film Collaborative, accepts stock donations. By donating stock that has appreciated for more than a year, you are giving 20% more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation, since you will not pay capital gains taxes on the donated stock!
Donors of $500+ will be entered into a raffle to WIN the opportunity to watch the picture lock via a private, expiring link.
Donors of $1,000+ will receive a special VIP invite to a NYC screening!
Thank you for continued and courageous support of Black filmmaking and storytelling.
